Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Sure Reality! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 when the earth with all its mountains is lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 On that Day will come what is to come. 15 And the heaven shall be rent in sunder, it on that Day shall be frail. 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 So he shall have an agreeable life 21 in a lofty garden, 22 The fruit clusters of which are hanging down. 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 and then let him enter Hell. 31 then fasten him with a chain, seventy cubits long. 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 so today he has no friend here, 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
