Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Reality? 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 I was certain I'll be given my account." 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 its fruits are near. 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 and neither known this my account! 26 Would that it (my death) had ended it all! 27 My wealth has not helped me a thing 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 nor any food except foul pus 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
