Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 and rebelled against their Lord's Messenger. So He took them with a stern taking. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. 12 Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 in a lofty Garden 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 My wealth has not helped me a thing 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 and then let him enter hell, 31 then fasten him with a chain, seventy cubits long. 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 and no food except pus 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
