Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Reality! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 They therefore disobeyed the Noble Messengers of their Lord so He seized them with an intense seizure. 10 When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, 11 In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 So he shall have an agreeable life 21 In a Garden on high, 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." 24 As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 Oh, would that it had been death! 27 My wealth has not helped me a thing 28 “All my power has vanished.” 29 Lay hold of him and chain him; 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
