Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Beholdest thou any of them remaining? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 13 And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- 14 So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 So he shall have an agreeable life 21 In a lofty Garden 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 and my authority has been destroyed' 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
