Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Beholdest thou any of them remaining? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 when the earth with all its mountains is lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 And not known my account! 26 Oh, would that it had been death! 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 and then let him enter Hell. 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 Nor any food save filth 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
