Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; 5 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. 12 Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 In a lofty Paradise, 22 The fruit clusters of which are hanging down. 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 and he never urged the feeding of the needy; 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 nor any food save the filth 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
