Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the Reality? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 To which He subjected them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that thou mightest have seen men during it lying prostrate, as though they were stumps of palms ruined. 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 And the heaven will split asunder so on that day it will be unstable. 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 In a lofty Garden 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 “All my power has vanished.” 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 then cast him in the Fire, 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 Nor any food save filth 36 None will eat except the Khati'un (sinners, disbelievers, polytheists, etc.). 37
