Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Reality! 1 What is the Inevitable? 2 And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the outburst. 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. 9 They therefore disobeyed the Noble Messengers of their Lord so He seized them with an intense seizure. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 in an exalted garden 22 with its fruits within easy reach. 23 "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 My wealth has not availed me, 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37
