Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 In a lofty Garden 22 with its fruits within easy reach. 23 Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! 24 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 "I wish, would that it had been my end (death)! 27 My wealth has not helped me a thing 28 and my authority has been destroyed' 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, 36 Which none but the hellish eat." 37
