Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Sure Reality! 1 How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. 4 Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 On that day all your secrets will be exposed. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 In a Garden on high, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 then cast him in the Fire, 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 Nor any food save filth 36 “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” 37
