Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, 16 and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 In a lofty Paradise, 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 None shall eat it but the sinners. 37
