Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Indubitable! 1 and what is the Resurrection Verifier? 2 And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 They therefore disobeyed the Noble Messengers of their Lord – so He seized them with an intense seizure. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. 16 And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 in a lofty Garden 22 its fruits are near. 23 Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! 24 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 I am bereft of power." 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: 32 He did not believe in God the supreme, 33 nor would he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
