Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; 5 And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 On that day all your secrets will be exposed. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 However, those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their left hands will say, "We wish that this record had never been given to us 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 Would it had been the end! 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
