Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment. 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 Oh, would that it had been death! 27 My wealth has not availed me. 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 (It will be said): Take him and fetter him 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: 32 He did not believe in God the supreme, 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
