Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 What makes you to know what the Resurrection Verifier is? 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees. 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 Verily We! when the water rose, We bare you upon the traversing ark. 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 So when the Trumpet will be blown, with a sudden single blow. 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. 17 That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 In a Garden on high, 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 I am bereft of power." 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 neither any food saving foul pus, 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
