Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Indubitable! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 What makes you to know what the Resurrection Verifier is? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. 12 So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. 17 The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 in a high Garden, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 and had not known my account. 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 and then let him enter hell, 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
