Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! 2 And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment. 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. 12 With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 In a lofty garden, 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 and then let him enter Hell. 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 He did not believe in God the supreme, 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 None will eat except the Khati'un (sinners, disbelievers, polytheists, etc.). 37
