Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Reality! 1 How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer. 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 and rebelled against their Lord's Messenger. So He took them with a stern taking. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 so that We might make it a reminder for you and so that attentive ears might retain it. 12 And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 on that Day shall that indubitable event come to pass; 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand – he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 In a lofty Garden – 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" 24 However, those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their left hands will say, "We wish that this record had never been given to us 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 “My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, 33 and he never urged the feeding of the needy; 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 which only the sinners eat". 37
