Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Reality - 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 and rebelled against their Lord's Messenger. So He took them with a stern taking. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 in an exalted garden 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 Roast him in Hell, 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 “Indeed he refused to accept faith in Allah, the Greatest.” 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
