Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! 3 The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment. 10 When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then, as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will say: Take, read my book! 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 in a lofty garden, 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 I am bereft of power." 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
