Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 What is the Inevitable? 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. 9 They therefore disobeyed the Noble Messengers of their Lord – so He seized them with an intense seizure. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 In high empyrean 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 then cast him in the Fire, 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 they did not believe in the great God, 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 nor any food save the filth 36 which only the sinners eat". 37
