The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
A questioner asked about a Penalty to befall- 1 the unbelievers which none can prevent. 2 [since it will come] from God, unto whom there are many ways of ascent: 3 To Him ascend the angels and the Spirit in a day the measure of which is fifty thousand years. 4 So be patient (O Muhammad SAW), with a good patience. 5 Lo! they behold it afar off 6 And We behold it nigh. 7 On that Day the heavens shall become like molten brass, 8 And the mountains will be like wool, 9 And no friend will ask concerning his friend. 10 though they may be in one another's sight: [for,] everyone who was lost in sin will on that Day but desire to ransom himself from suffering at the price of his own children, 11 And his wife and his brother. 12 his kin who sheltered him, 13 And whoever is on earth entirely [so] then it could save him. 14 No, in truth, it is a Furnace! 15 That would skin the scalp. 16 It calls out to him who reverted and turned away. 17 Who amasses and then hoards. 18 ۞ Indeed, mankind was created anxious: 19 Irritable (discontented) when evil touches him; 20 but when good comes upon him, he is grudging 21 except those that pray, 22 who are steadfast in prayer; 23 And those in whose wealth is a recognised right. 24 For the beggar who asks, and for the unlucky who has lost his property and wealth, (and his means of living has been straitened); 25 and who accept as true the [coming of the] Day of Judgment; 26 and fear the chastisement of their Lord – 27 Verily! The torment of their Lord is that before which none can feel secure, 28 those who preserve their chastity 29 except from their wives and slave girls, in which case they are not to be blamed, 30 But those who trespass beyond this are transgressors;- 31 and who are faithful to their trusts and to their pledges: 32 And those who stand firm in their testimonies; 33 And those who are attentive at their worship. 34 It is these who will be honoured in Gardens. 35
