The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
There hath asked an asker for the torment about to befall. 1 Upon the disbelievers, which none can repel, 2 From Allah, Owner of the ascending steps. 3 On that Day (of Judgment), long as fifty thousand years, the angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him. 4 Wherefore be thou patient with a becoming patience. 5 they see it as being far off; 6 But We see it very near. 7 The day when the sky will be like molten silver. 8 And the mountains will be like wool, 9 And no friend will ask concerning his friend. 10 Though they will be given sight of them. The guilty man will long to be able to ransom himself from the punishment of that day at the price of his children 11 his companion wife, his brother, 12 And his nearest kindred who shelter him 13 and all the people of the earth, if that could deliver him. 14 By no means! Verily it is a Flame. 15 stripping away his skin, 16 calling him who drew back and turned away, 17 And accumulated wealth and hoarded it. 18 ۞ Human beings are created greedy. 19 When they are afflicted, they complain, 20 And niggardly when good reaches him;- 21 Not so are the prayerful. 22 Those who are constant at their prayer 23 And those in whose wealth exists a recognised right, 24 for such as ask [for help] and such as are deprived [of what is good in life]; 25 And those who believe in the Day of Judgment, 26 And those who fear the punishment of their Lord. 27 Verily! The torment of their Lord is that before which none can feel secure, 28 And those who guard their private parts, 29 save from their wives and what their right hands own, then not being blameworthy 30 but those who go beyond that limit are transgressors; 31 And those who of their trusts and their covenant are keepers. 32 and who stand firm whenever they bear witness; 33 And those who are attentive at their worship. 34 Those shall be in gardens, honored. 35
