The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
44 verses, revealed in Mecca after Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah) before The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
A questioner asked about a Penalty to befall- 1 The unbelievers-- there is none to avert it-- 2 [It is] from Allah, owner of the ways of ascent. 3 To Him the angels and the Spirit (Gabriel) ascend in a day, the measure of which is fifty thousand years. 4 Therefore be patient, with a beautiful patience; 5 behold, they see it as if far off; 6 And We behold it nigh. 7 On that Day the heaven shall become like molten copper, 8 And then the mountains shall become like unto wool dyed. 9 even intimate friends will not inquire about their friends, 10 Though they will be given sight of them. The guilty man will long to be able to ransom himself from the punishment of that day at the price of his children 11 his companion wife, his brother, 12 his kin who sheltered him, 13 And all that are in the earth, if then it might deliver him. 14 No, in truth, it is a Furnace! 15 Flaying off the scalp-skin. 16 It invites he who turned his back [on truth] and went away [from obedience] 17 And collect (wealth) and hide it (from use)! 18 ۞ VERILY, man is born with a restless disposition. 19 Fretful when evil touches him; 20 And, when good befalleth him, grudging; 21 Save worshippers. 22 Those who remain constant in their Salat (prayers); 23 In whose wealth a due share is included 24 to those who ask [for help] and to the destitute; 25 who confirm the Day of Reckoning 26 and go in fear of the chastisement of their Lord 27 For their Lord's displeasure is the opposite of Peace and Tranquillity;- 28 and guard their private parts 29 Except with their wives and the bondwomen in their possession, for there is no reproach on them. 30 But he who seeks to go beyond this, these it is that go beyond the limits-- 31 (Those) who keep their trusts and their covenant, 32 and those who are upright in their testimonies; 33 and (finally) those who do not miss their ritual - prayers at the prescribed times; 34 Those shall be in Gardens, high-honoured. 35

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
