The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
A requester seeks the punishment that will take place – 1 The Unbelievers, the which there is none to ward off,- 2 a chastisement from Allah, the Lord of the ascending steps, 3 by which the angels and the Spirit ascend to Him in one Day the duration of which is fifty thousand years. 4 Therefore be patient, with a beautiful patience; 5 They surely take it to be far away, 6 But We see it very near. 7 The day when the sky will become as molten copper, 8 and the mountains will become like dyed tufts of wool, 9 No loyal friend will ask another loyal friend 10 though they are in sight of each other. To ransom himself from the punishment of that Day, the sinner will wish that he might even ransom himself by his sons, 11 And his wife and his brother 12 his kinsmen who gave him refuge (from hardship) 13 and all those on earth. 14 But nay! Verily, all [that awaits him] is a raging flame, 15 tearing away his skin! 16 It shall insistently summon him who turned his back and retreated, 17 Who amasses and then hoards. 18 ۞ VERILY, man is born with a restless disposition. 19 Fretful when evil befalleth him 20 when good visits him, grudging, 21 except those that pray, 22 Who are at their prayer constant. 23 And those in whose wealth there is a known right, 24 for the impoverished nonrequester and the requester, 25 And those who believe in the Day of Recompense, 26 And those who are fearful of the chastisement of their Lord-- 27 Lo! the doom of their Lord is that before which none can feel secure - 28 who guard their carnal desires 29 except from their wives and slave girls, in which case they are not to be blamed, 30 But whosoever seeks beyond that, then it is those who are trespassers. 31 And those who respect their trusts and covenants; 32 And those who stand by their testimony 33 And those who guard their Salat (prayers) well. 34 all these shall live honourably in the Gardens. 35
