The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
A requester seeks the punishment that will take place – 1 the unbelievers which none can prevent. 2 [It is] from Allah, owner of the ways of ascent. 3 To whom the angels and the soul take a day to ascend, whose length is fifty thousand years. 4 But be patient (O Muhammad) with a patience fair to see. 5 Verily! They see it (the torment) afar off, 6 but We see it near. 7 On the Day the sky will be like murky oil, 8 And the hills become as flakes of wool, 9 No loyal friend will ask another loyal friend 10 Though they will be put in sight of each other,- the sinner's desire will be: Would that he could redeem himself from the Penalty of that Day by (sacrificing) his children, 11 And his wife and his brother. 12 the kinsmen who gave him shelter, 13 And all those who are on the earth, to save himself. 14 Never! That is indeed a blazing fire. 15 A remover of exteriors. 16 It invites he who turned his back [on truth] and went away [from obedience] 17 And masseth and then hoardeth. 18 ۞ Truly man was created very impatient;- 19 when misfortune touches him he starts lamenting, 20 And niggardly when good befalls him 21 Except those who pray, 22 Who persevere in devotion, 23 And those within whose wealth is a known right 24 for the needy and the deprived, 25 And those who believe in the Day of Recompense 26 and go in fear of the chastisement of their Lord 27 surely the chastisement of their Lord is a thing none can feel secure from – 28 And those who of their private parts are guards. 29 save from their wives and what their right hands own, then not being blameworthy 30 But whosoever seeks beyond that, then it is those who are trespassers. 31 And those who are faithful to their trusts and their covenant 32 and those who are upright in their testimonies; 33 and who are constant in their prayers. 34 Those are highly honored in the Gardens. 35
