Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
We sent Noah forth to his people, saying, "Warn your people before there comes upon them a grievous punishment." 1 He said: 'My nation, I am a clear warner for you. 2 “That you must worship Allah and fear Him, and obey me.” 3 so that He may forgive you some of your sins, and grant you respite until a term known [to Him alone]: but, behold, when the term appointed by God does come, it can never be put back - if you but knew it!" 4 He said: "O my Lord! Verily, I have called my people night and day (i.e. secretly and openly to accept the doctrine of Islamic Monotheism). 5 but my pleas have only increased their aversion. 6 Each time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers in their ears and wrapped themselves in their garments, and persisted becoming very proud. 7 Then verily I have called unto them publicly 8 and preached to them in public, and also addressed them in secret. 9 “I therefore told them, ‘Seek forgiveness from your Lord; He is indeed Most Forgiving.’ 10 He will send you abundant rain from the sky, 11 increase your wealth and sons; and grant you gardens and waterways. 12 What aileth you that ye hope not toward Allah for dignity 13 Knowing that He has created you by various stages? 14 See ye not how Allah hath created seven heavens in harmony, 15 and has set up within them the moon as a light [reflected] and set up the sun as a [radiant] lamp? 16 ‘And it is Allah Who made you grow like vegetation from the earth.’ 17 And thereafter He will cause you to return thereinto, and He will bring you forth a forthbringing. 18 "'And God has made the earth a wide expanse for you, 19 So that you may walk upon its spacious paths.' 20
