Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Indeed We sent Nooh towards his people saying that, “Warn your people before the painful punishment comes upon them.” 1 [And Noah] said: "O my people! I am but a plain warner to you, [sent to tell you] 2 that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. Pay heed to me. 3 That He may forgive you somewhat of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Lo! the term of Allah, when it cometh, cannot be delayed, if ye but knew. 4 He said: O my Lord! surely I have called my people by night and by day! 5 but my call has only caused them to flee farther and farther away [from Thee]. 6 And whenever I called them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, and wrapped them in their garments, and persisted, and waxed very proud. 7 I called to them clearly, 8 "Then verily, I proclaimed to them in public, and I have appealed to them in private, 9 and told them, "Ask forgiveness from your Lord; He is All-forgiving". 10 He will send you abundant rain from the sky, 11 ‘And will aid you with wealth and sons, and will create gardens for you and cause rivers to flow for you.’ 12 What aileth you that ye expect not in Allah majesty! 13 Knowing that He has created you by various stages? 14 Do you not see how God has fashioned seven skies one above the other, 15 And made the moon therein a [reflected] light and made the sun a burning lamp? 16 And Allah has made you grow out of the earth as a growth: 17 Afterwards He will return you into it (the earth), and bring you forth (again on the Day of Resurrection)? 18 God has made the earth for you a spreading, 19 so that you may walk along its spacious paths?" 20
