Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
We sent Noah to his people telling him, "Warn your people before a painful torment approaches them". 1 He said: "O my people! Verily, I am a plain warner to you, 2 Worship Allah, fear Him, and obey me. 3 so that He may forgive you some of your sins, and grant you respite until a term known [to Him alone]: but, behold, when the term appointed by God does come, it can never be put back - if you but knew it!" 4 He said, “My Lord! I invited my people night and day.” 5 but my call has only caused them to flee farther and farther away [from Thee]. 6 And every time I called them that You may forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their garments, and became wayward, and behaved with downright insolence. 7 Then I summoned them openly, 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 Then I said, Ask forgiveness of your Lord, surely He is the most Forgiving: 10 He will send down upon you the cloud, pouring down abundance of rain: 11 And help you with wealth and sons, and make for you gardens, and make for you rivers. 12 What is the matter with you that you do not want the Greatness of Allah, 13 ‘Whereas it is He Who created you in different stages?’ 14 "'Do you not see how God has created seven heavens in full harmony with one another, 15 and has set up within them the moon as a light [reflected] and set up the sun as a [radiant] lamp? 16 And Allah hath caused you to grow from the earth as a growth. 17 And afterward He maketh you return thereto, and He will bring you forth again, a (new) forthbringing. 18 And Allah has made for you the earth a wide expanse, 19 that thereof you may thread ways, ravines." 20
