Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Indeed We sent Nooh towards his people saying that, “Warn your people before the painful punishment comes upon them.” 1 He said: "O my people! Verily, I am a plain warner to you, 2 "That ye should worship Allah, fear Him and obey me: 3 and He will forgive you your sins, and defer you to a stated term; God's term, when it comes, cannot be deferred, did you but know."' 4 Noah said, "My Lord, I have been preaching to my people, night and day, 5 But my invitation increased them not except in flight. 6 And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance. 7 Then I summoned them openly, 8 “Then I also told them publicly and also spoke to them softly in private.” 9 "Saying, 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; for He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers 11 and will provide you with wealth and children, and will bestow upon you gardens and rivers. 12 "'What is the matter with you, that ye place not your hope for kindness and long-suffering in Allah,- 13 Knowing that He has created you by various stages? 14 Do you not consider how Allah has created seven heavens in layers 15 And made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp? 16 And Allah hath caused you to grow from the earth as a growth. 17 then He shall return you into it, and bring you forth. 18 God has made the earth for you a spreading, 19 That you may follow therein roads of passage.' " 20
