Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Surely We sent Nuh to his people, saying: Warn your people before there come upon them a painful chastisement. 1 He said, “O my people! I am indeed a Herald of clear warnings to you.” 2 That you should serve Allah and be careful of (your duty to) Him and obey me: 3 "He (Allah) will forgive you of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Verily, the term of Allah when it comes, cannot be delayed, if you but knew." 4 He said: “My Lord, I called my people by night and by day, 5 but the more I called, the farther they fled. 6 And whenever I called them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, and wrapped them in their garments, and persisted, and waxed very proud. 7 “I then called them openly.” 8 and preached to them in public, and also addressed them in secret. 9 "Saying, 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; for He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 He will shower upon you torrents from heaven, 11 and will succour you with wealth and sons, and will appoint for you gardens, and will appoint for you rivers. 12 "'What is amiss with you that you cannot look forward to God's majesty, 13 Knowing that He has created you by various stages? 14 Do you not see how Allah has created seven heavens, one upon the other, 15 And has made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 And Allah hath caused you to grow as a growth from the earth, 17 Then He will return you into it and extract you [another] extraction. 18 Allah has made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 so that you walk in its spacious paths.' 20
