Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Verily, We sent Nuh (Noah) to his people (Saying): "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful torment." 1 He said: O my people! Surely I am a plain warner to you: 2 That you should serve Allah and be careful of (your duty to) Him and obey me: 3 so that He may forgive you some of your sins, and grant you respite until a term known [to Him alone]: but, behold, when the term appointed by God does come, it can never be put back - if you but knew it!" 4 [And after a time, Noah] said: "O my Sustainer! Verily, I have been calling unto my people night and day 5 "But all my calling added nothing but to (their) flight (from the truth). 6 And verily so oft as I call them, that Thou mayest forgive them, they place their fingers into their ears, and wrap themselves with their garments, and persist, and are stiff-necked. 7 Then I called them openly, 8 And lo! I have made public proclamation unto them, and I have appealed to them in private. 9 Then I said, Ask forgiveness of your Lord, surely He is the most Forgiving: 10 He will send down upon you the cloud, pouring down abundance of rain: 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 What aileth you that ye hope not toward Allah for dignity 13 While He has created you in stages? 14 Do you not see how Allah has created seven heavens, one upon the other, 15 And made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp? 16 God made you grow from the earth. 17 Then He returns you to it, then will He bring you forth a (new) bringing forth: 18 God has spread out the earth 19 so that you may walk along its spacious paths?" 20
