Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
We sent Noah forth to his people, saying, "Warn your people before there comes upon them a grievous punishment." 1 He said, 'O my people, I am unto you a clear warner, 2 Worship God, have fear of Him and obey me. 3 and He will forgive you your sins, and defer you to a stated term; God's term, when it comes, cannot be deferred, did you but know."' 4 He said; 'My Lord, I have called my people by night and by day, 5 But all my calling doth but add to their repugnance; 6 And whenever I have called them that Thou mayest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, cover themselves with their garments, and persist and are puffed up with pride: 7 Then surely I called to them aloud: 8 And lo! I have made public proclamation unto them, and I have appealed to them in private. 9 “I therefore told them, ‘Seek forgiveness from your Lord; He is indeed Most Forgiving.’ 10 He will send you abundant 11 And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers. 12 What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur 13 Knowing that He has created you by various stages? 14 See you not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 And made the moon therein a [reflected] light and made the sun a burning lamp? 16 "'And God has caused you to grow out of the earth in [gradual] growth; and thereafter He will return you to it [in death]: 17 Then He will return you into it and extract you [another] extraction. 18 "'And Allah has made the earth for you as a carpet (spread out), 19 so that you might walk thereon on spacious paths.'" 20
