Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
WE SENT NOAH to his people to warn them before the painful punishment came upon them. 1 He said: O my people! Lo! I am a plain warner unto you 2 "That you should worship Allah (Alone), be dutiful to Him, and obey me, 3 so that He may forgive you some of your sins, and grant you respite until a term known [to Him alone]: but, behold, when the term appointed by God does come, it can never be put back - if you but knew it!" 4 He said, "My Lord, indeed I invited my people [to truth] night and day. 5 But the more I called, they only ran the farther away. 6 Each time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers in their ears and wrapped themselves in their garments, and persisted becoming very proud. 7 "So I have called to them aloud; 8 Then I conveyed the message to them, again, both in public and in private, 9 and I said: "'Ask your Sustainer to forgive you your sins - for, verily, He is all-forgiving! 10 He will shower upon you heavenly blessings abundant, 11 "'Give you increase in wealth and sons; and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers (of flowing water). 12 strengthen you by (providing) you wealth and children, and make gardens and streams for you. What is the matter with you that you are not afraid of the greatness of God 13 when He has created you in stages? 14 See ye not how Allah hath created seven heavens in harmony, 15 "'And made the moon a light in their midst, and made the sun as a (Glorious) Lamp? 16 And God caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 And afterward He maketh you return thereto, and He will bring you forth again, a (new) forthbringing. 18 how God has spread the earth out for you 19 That you may go about therein in broad roads. 20
