Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
We sent Noah forth to his people, saying, "Warn your people before there comes upon them a grievous punishment." 1 He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner, 2 that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. Pay heed to me. 3 He will forgive you your sins and respite you till an appointed term. When the term of Allah arrives it cannot be deferred; if you but knew' 4 He said: “My Lord, I called my people by night and by day, 5 “So for them, my calling them increased their fleeing away.” 6 "And every time I have called to them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they have (only) thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 Then verily I have called unto them publicly 8 and, behold I preached to them in public; and I spoke to them secretly, in private; 9 And I said: ask forgiveness of your Lord; verily He is ever Most Forgiving. 10 He will shower upon you heavenly blessings abundant, 11 And will help you with wealth and sons, and will assign unto you Gardens and will assign unto you rivers. 12 ‘What is the matter with you, that you do not desire honour from Allah?’ 13 He has created you by stages! 14 Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another, 15 and made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp, 16 And Allah has caused you to grow from the earth a [progressive] growth. 17 Then He returns you to it, then will He bring you forth a (new) bringing forth: 18 Allah has made the earth spread out for you 19 That ye may thread the valley-ways thereof. 20
