Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
We sent Noah forth to his people, saying, "Warn your people before there comes upon them a grievous punishment." 1 He said: 'My nation, I am a clear warner for you. 2 saying, "Serve God, and fear Him, and obey you me, 3 He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know! 4 He said: My Lord! Lo! I have called unto my people night and day 5 But all my calling doth but add to their repugnance; 6 And whenever I have called them that Thou mayest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, cover themselves with their garments, and persist and are puffed up with pride: 7 Then I called them openly, 8 and, behold I preached to them in public; and I spoke to them secretly, in private; 9 "I said (to them): 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 He will send the heaven upon you copiously; 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 What is the matter with you that you deny the greatness of God, 13 ‘Whereas it is He Who created you in different stages?’ 14 "Have you not seen that God has created the seven heavens one above the other 15 and has placed the moon in them as a light, and the sun as a radiant lamp? 16 And God caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 then He shall return you into it, and bring you forth. 18 "'And God has made the earth a wide expanse for you, 19 That ye may thread the valley-ways thereof. 20
