Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
BEHOLD. We sent Noah unto his people. [Saying:] "Warn thy people ere grievous suffering befall them! 1 He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner, 2 Worship Allah, fear Him, and obey me. 3 Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew.' " 4 He said: “My Lord, I called my people by night and by day, 5 but it has had no effect on them except to make them run away. 6 And whenever I called them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, and wrapped them in their garments, and persisted, and waxed very proud. 7 “I then called them openly.” 8 then indeed I spoke publicly unto them, and I spoke unto them secretly, 9 and I said, "Ask you forgiveness of your Lord; surely He is ever All-forgiving, 10 He will send down abundant rain from the sky for you, 11 And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers. 12 What has come upon you that you do not fear the majesty of God, 13 When He created you by (divers) stages? 14 Do you not see how God has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 And made the moon therein a [reflected] light and made the sun a burning lamp? 16 ‘And it is Allah Who made you grow like vegetation from the earth.’ 17 And afterward He maketh you return thereto, and He will bring you forth again, a (new) forthbringing. 18 ‘And it is Allah Who made the earth a bed for you.’ 19 so that you may walk along its spacious paths?" 20
