Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
We sent Noah to his People (with the Command): "Do thou warn thy People before there comes to them a grievous Penalty." 1 [And Noah] said: "O my people! I am but a plain warner to you, [sent to tell you] 2 Worship Allah, fear Him, and obey me. 3 He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite till an appointed time. When the time appointed by God arrives, it cannot be postponed, if you only knew." 4 Noah said, "My Lord, I have been preaching to my people, night and day, 5 but my calling has only increased them in flight. 6 And verily so oft as I call them, that Thou mayest forgive them, they place their fingers into their ears, and wrap themselves with their garments, and persist, and are stiff-necked. 7 "And behold I called unto them openly; 8 and, behold I preached to them in public; and I spoke to them secretly, in private; 9 I said to them: “Ask forgiveness from your Lord; surely He is Most Forgiving. 10 He will shower upon you heavenly blessings abundant, 11 increase your wealth and sons; and grant you gardens and waterways. 12 What is the matter with you that you fear not the greatness of Allah? 13 seeing that He has created [every one of] you in successive stages? 14 Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another, 15 And hath made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 "'And God has caused you to grow out of the earth in [gradual] growth; and thereafter He will return you to it [in death]: 17 Afterwards He will return you into it (the earth), and bring you forth (again on the Day of Resurrection)? 18 ‘And it is Allah Who made the earth a bed for you.’ 19 so that you may walk along its spacious paths?" 20
