Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
We sent Noah forth to his people, saying, "Warn your people before there comes upon them a grievous punishment." 1 He said: 'My nation, I am a clear warner for you. 2 That you should worship God and fear Him, and follow me 3 He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know! 4 He said: my Lord! Verily I have called my people night and day. 5 but my call has only caused them to flee farther and farther away [from Thee]. 6 “And whenever I called them, so that You may forgive them, they always thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their clothes, and remained stubborn and were extremely haughty.” 7 Then I summoned them openly, 8 And lo! I have made public proclamation unto them, and I have appealed to them in private. 9 And I have said: Seek pardon of your Lord. Lo! He was ever Forgiving. 10 'He will send rain to you in abundance; 11 rain from the sky, 12 What ails you, that you look not for majesty in God, 13 seeing He created you by stages? 14 Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another, 15 And has made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 And Allah has caused you to grow from the earth a [progressive] growth. 17 And afterward He maketh you return thereto, and He will bring you forth again, a (new) forthbringing. 18 And Allah hath made the earth unto you an expanse. 19 so that you may tread its spacious paths.” 20
