Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
We sent Noah to his nation, saying: 'Give warning to your nation before a painful punishment overtakes them' 1 He said, “O my people! I am indeed a Herald of clear warnings to you.” 2 "That ye should worship Allah, fear Him and obey me: 3 He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite till an appointed time. When the time appointed by God arrives, it cannot be postponed, if you only knew." 4 He said: “My Lord, I called my people by night and by day, 5 but my calling has only increased them in flight. 6 And whenever I called them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, and wrapped them in their garments, and persisted, and waxed very proud. 7 "Then verily, I called to them openly (aloud); 8 "Then verily, I proclaimed to them in public, and I have appealed to them in private, 9 "Saying, 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; for He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 and He will loose heaven upon you in torrents 11 And help you with wealth and sons, and make for you gardens, and make for you rivers. 12 What aileth you that ye hope not toward Allah for dignity 13 When He created you by (divers) stages? 14 Behold ye not in what wise Allah hath created seven heavens in storeys. 15 And made the moon therein a [reflected] light and made the sun a burning lamp? 16 And Allah hath caused you to grow from the earth as a growth. 17 Then He returns you to it, then will He bring you forth a (new) bringing forth: 18 And Allah has made for you the earth an expanse 19 That you may follow therein roads of passage.' " 20
