Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Lo! We sent Noah unto his people (saying): Warn thy people ere the painful doom come unto them. 1 He said: O my people! Surely I am a plain warner to you: 2 that you serve Allah and fear Him, and follow me; 3 He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite till an appointed time. When the time appointed by God arrives, it cannot be postponed, if you only knew." 4 'My Lord' said he, 'night and day I have called my nation, 5 but my pleas have only increased their aversion. 6 And whenever I have called them that Thou mayest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, cover themselves with their garments, and persist and are puffed up with pride: 7 "And behold I called unto them openly; 8 “Then I also told them publicly and also spoke to them softly in private.” 9 and I said: "'Ask your Sustainer to forgive you your sins - for, verily, He is all-forgiving! 10 "'He will send rain to you in abundance; 11 rain from the sky, 12 "'What is the matter with you, that ye place not your hope for kindness and long-suffering in Allah,- 13 When He created you by (divers) stages? 14 "'Do you not see how God has created seven heavens in full harmony with one another, 15 And has placed the moon therein, an illumination, and has placed the sun, a lighted lamp? 16 how God has produced you from the earth and caused you to grow, 17 "'And in the End He will return you into the (earth), and raise you forth (again at the Resurrection)? 18 "'And God has made the earth a wide expanse for you, 19 "'That ye may go about therein, in spacious roads.'" 20
