Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
BEHOLD. We sent Noah unto his people. [Saying:] "Warn thy people ere grievous suffering befall them! 1 He said: "O my people! Verily, I am a plain warner to you, 2 Worship Allah, and fear Him, and obey me. 3 so that He may forgive you some of your sins, and grant you respite until a term known [to Him alone]: but, behold, when the term appointed by God does come, it can never be put back - if you but knew it!" 4 'My Lord' said he, 'night and day I have called my nation, 5 but my call has only caused them to flee farther and farther away [from Thee]. 6 And verily so oft as I call them, that Thou mayest forgive them, they place their fingers into their ears, and wrap themselves with their garments, and persist, and are stiff-necked. 7 Then verily I have called unto them publicly 8 And lo! I have made public proclamation unto them, and I have appealed to them in private. 9 and I said: "'Ask your Sustainer to forgive you your sins - for, verily, He is all-forgiving! 10 He will send you abundant 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 "'What is amiss with you that you cannot look forward to God's majesty, 13 ‘Whereas it is He Who created you in different stages?’ 14 Do you not see how Allah has created seven heavens, one upon the other, 15 "'And made the moon a light in their midst, and made the sun as a (Glorious) Lamp? 16 And Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth so wondrously, 17 ‘And He will then take you back to it, and again remove you from it.” 18 "'And God has made the earth a wide expanse for you, 19 That you may go along therein in wide paths. 20
