Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
BEHOLD. We sent Noah unto his people. [Saying:] "Warn thy people ere grievous suffering befall them! 1 He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner, 2 "That ye should worship Allah, fear Him and obey me: 3 “He will forgive you some of your sins, and give you respite up to an appointed term; indeed the promise of Allah cannot be averted when it arrives; if only you knew.” 4 He said; 'My Lord, I have called my people by night and by day, 5 But my call has only made them flee the more: 6 Every time I have called to them, so that You might forgive them, they have only thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 "So I have called to them aloud; 8 and spoke to them in public and in private." 9 Then I said, Ask forgiveness of your Lord, surely He is the most Forgiving: 10 He will send the heaven upon you copiously; 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 What is the matter with you that you do not want the Greatness of Allah, 13 And surely He hath created you by stages. 14 See you not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 And has placed the moon therein, an illumination, and has placed the sun, a lighted lamp? 16 how God has produced you from the earth and caused you to grow, 17 And thereafter He will cause you to return thereinto, and He will bring you forth a forthbringing. 18 Allah has made the earth spread out for you 19 so that you may walk along its spacious paths?" 20
