Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
We sent Noah to his people, saying, 'Warn thy people, ere there come on them a painful chastisement.' 1 Noah said, "My people, I am warning you plainly. 2 Worship God, have fear of Him and obey me. 3 That He may forgive some of your sins and prolong your term till an appointed time. Surely when God's appointed time is come it will not be put off, if only you knew! 4 He said: My Lord! Lo! I have called unto my people night and day 5 but it has had no effect on them except to make them run away. 6 And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance. 7 "Then verily, I called to them openly (aloud); 8 Then I announced to them and [also] confided to them secretly 9 Then I said, "Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Surely He is the most forgiving. 10 He will send down abundant rain from the sky for you, 11 and give to you wealth and sons, and provide you with gardens and rivers. 12 "'What is the matter with you, that ye place not your hope for kindness and long-suffering in Allah,- 13 when He has created you in stages? 14 "'See ye not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 ‘And in them, has illuminated the moon, and made the sun a lamp?’ 16 God made you grow from the earth. 17 He will then return you back to it, and bring you out again. 18 Allah has made the earth spread out for you 19 so that you might walk thereon on spacious paths.'" 20
