Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Verily, We sent Nuh (Noah) to his people (Saying): "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful torment." 1 [And Noah] said: "O my people! I am but a plain warner to you, [sent to tell you] 2 Worship God, have fear of Him and obey me. 3 He will forgive you your sins, and will defer you to an appointed term. Verily the term of Allah when it cometh shall not be deferred, if ye but knew. 4 [And after a time, Noah] said: "O my Sustainer! Verily, I have been calling unto my people night and day 5 but my call has only caused them to flee farther and farther away [from Thee]. 6 And verily so oft as I call them, that Thou mayest forgive them, they place their fingers into their ears, and wrap themselves with their garments, and persist, and are stiff-necked. 7 Then I called them openly, 8 "Further I have spoken to them in public and secretly in private, 9 Then I said, Ask forgiveness of your Lord, surely He is the most Forgiving: 10 He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers 11 And will give you increase of wealth and sons, and give you gardens and springs of water. 12 ‘What is the matter with you, that you do not desire honour from Allah?’ 13 And indeed He has created you through various grades: 14 See ye not how Allah hath created seven heavens in harmony, 15 And has made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 He will then return you back to it, and bring you out again. 18 And God has laid the earth for you as a carpet, 19 so that you might walk thereon on spacious paths.'" 20
