Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
We sent Noah to his people, saying, 'Warn thy people, ere there come on them a painful chastisement.' 1 He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner, 2 That you should worship God and fear Him, and follow me 3 That He may forgive you somewhat of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Lo! the term of Allah, when it cometh, cannot be delayed, if ye but knew. 4 He said: "O Lord, I called my people night and day, 5 but it has had no effect on them except to make them run away. 6 "And verily! Every time I called unto them that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, and persisted (in their refusal), and magnified themselves in pride. 7 Then I invited them publicly. 8 Then I conveyed the message to them, again, both in public and in private, 9 And I have said: Seek pardon of your Lord. Lo! He was ever Forgiving. 10 He will send you abundant rain from the sky, 11 rain from the sky, 12 What ails you, that you look not for majesty in God, 13 ‘Whereas it is He Who created you in different stages?’ 14 See ye not how Allah hath created seven heavens in harmony, 15 and set the moon therein for a light and the sun for a lamp? 16 And Allah has made you grow out of the earth as a growth: 17 ‘And He will then take you back to it, and again remove you from it.” 18 "'And God has made the earth a wide expanse for you, 19 That you may go along therein in wide paths. 20
