Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
We sent Noah to his people telling him, "Warn your people before a painful torment approaches them". 1 He said: O my people! Surely I am a plain warner to you: 2 That you should worship God and fear Him, and follow me 3 "So He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a stated Term: for when the Term given by Allah is accomplished, it cannot be put forward: if ye only knew." 4 He said: "O my Lord! I have called to my People night and day: 5 And my calling hath only increased them in fleeing. 6 "And verily! Every time I called unto them that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, and persisted (in their refusal), and magnified themselves in pride. 7 I called to them clearly, 8 Then I conveyed the message to them, again, both in public and in private, 9 and told them, "Ask forgiveness from your Lord; He is All-forgiving". 10 "'He will send rain to you in abundance; 11 and will provide you with wealth and children, and will bestow upon you gardens and rivers. 12 What is the matter with you that you do not want the Greatness of Allah, 13 And indeed He has created you through various grades: 14 Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens, one above another, 15 and placed therein the moon as a light and the sun as a torch. 16 And Allah hath caused you to grow from the earth as a growth. 17 "'And in the End He will return you into the (earth), and raise you forth (again at the Resurrection)? 18 "'And God has made the earth a wide expanse for you, 19 so that you walk in its spacious paths.' 20
