Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Verily We! We sent Nuh unto his people saying: warn thy people ere there come unto them torment afflictive. 1 He said: O my people! Surely I am a plain warner to you: 2 Worship Allah, and fear Him, and obey me. 3 Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew.' " 4 He said: “My Lord, I called my people by night and by day, 5 But all my calling doth but add to their repugnance; 6 "And every time I have called to them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they have (only) thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 Then I invited them publicly. 8 Then I announced to them and [also] confided to them secretly 9 "Ask for forgiveness of your Lord," I said. "Surely, He is the Forgiver. 10 He will send you abundant rain from the sky, 11 and will succour you with wealth and sons, and will appoint for you gardens, and will appoint for you rivers. 12 What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur 13 when He has created you through different stages of existence? 14 Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another, 15 "'And made the moon a light in their midst, and made the sun as a (Glorious) Lamp? 16 And God caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 "'And in the End He will return you into the (earth), and raise you forth (again at the Resurrection)? 18 God has spread out the earth 19 for you, so that you may walk along its wide roads". 20
