Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
We sent Noah to his People (with the Command): "Do thou warn thy People before there comes to them a grievous Penalty." 1 He said: "O my people! Verily, I am a plain warner to you, 2 “That you must worship Allah and fear Him, and obey me.” 3 “He will forgive you some of your sins, and give you respite up to an appointed term; indeed the promise of Allah cannot be averted when it arrives; if only you knew.” 4 He said: “My Lord, I called my people by night and by day, 5 but my call has only increased them in running away. 6 Each time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers in their ears and wrapped themselves in their garments, and persisted becoming very proud. 7 "And behold I called unto them openly; 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 And I have said: Seek pardon of your Lord. Lo! He was ever Forgiving. 10 He will send you abundant rain from the sky, 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 What ails you, that you look not for majesty in God, 13 seeing He created you by stages? 14 Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens, one above another, 15 And made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp? 16 And Allah hath caused you to grow from the earth as a growth. 17 and He will later cause you to return to it and will then again bring you out of it. 18 Allah has made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 so that you might walk thereon on spacious paths.'" 20
